Honoring Life: Protecting Our Community's Breath

In the spirit of our ancestors and the strength of our community, Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System introduces a vital health initiative to protect the breath of life - a comprehensive Lung Cancer Screening Program designed to safeguard the health of our people.

Wisdom of Prevention

Just as our elders have always taught us to care for our bodies and listen to the warnings of our spirit, modern medicine offers a powerful tool to detect and prevent illness. Our new screening program uses advanced technology to look deep within, much like our traditional healers who have long understood the importance of early intervention.

About Twelve Clans Unity Hospital Rooted in the wisdom of the Twelve Clans, our hospital stands as a bridge between traditional healing and modern medicine. We are more than a healthcare facility - we are a circle of support, committed to the wellness of our community, honoring the sacred connection between body, spirit, and land.

Who Can Seek Healing

Lung cancer screening is a path of healing recommended for:

  • Those between 50 and 77 years of age
  • Current smokers or those who have recently put down tobacco
  • Those with a history of tobacco use (smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 20 years)

Honoring Our Commitment to Wellness

  • Respectful and confidential guidance
  • ·Personalized support that connects to community resources

"Our breath is sacred," says Carla Griffin, Public Health Nursing Director at the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System. "This screening is more than a medical test - it's a way of protecting the life force that connects us to our ancestors and our future generations."
