Winnebago Senior Center Upgrades Facility With Donation From Ho-Chunk Way

Winnebago, NE – The Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) is proud to share that recent facility upgrades at the Winnebago Senior Center were made possible through the Ho-Chunk Way project, the Ho-Chunk, Inc. employee donation program. In 2024, Ho-Chunk, Inc. employees contributed $96,235.15 to the Senior Center, and the remaining funds from that gift have now been utilized to enhance the space for local elders.

Thanks to this generous support, the Senior Center has added new furniture, outdoor seating, kitchen enhancements, and other improvements that enhance comfort, functionality, and community connection. These updates ensure the facility remains a safe and enjoyable place where seniors can gather, share meals, and participate in programs that promote health and well-being.

The Ho-Chunk Way project has supported the Winnebago Senior Center twice since its inception. In 2017 and again in 2024, program funds were used to purchase two SUVs for meal deliveries and elder transportation. With remaining funds from the 2024 donation now providing much-needed facility upgrades.

“We’re beyond grateful to Ho-Chunk, Inc. and the Ho-Chunk Way project for this incredible investment in our elders,” said Mona Zuffante, WCHS Chief Public Health Officer. “These upgrades make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day lives of our seniors, honoring their contributions to our community and providing a space they can be proud of.”

The Ho Chunk Way Employee Donation program, a charitable giving initiative by Ho-Chunk, Inc. is rooted in their mission to support a better way of life for the Winnebago Tribe, focusing on the Tribal priorities: youth, education, jobs, housing, and elders. Since 2017, Ho-Chunk, Inc. employees have raised more than $650,000 to benefit programs, projects, and organizations that strengthen the Winnebago community.

WCHS extends its deepest gratitude, to the employees of Ho-Chunk, Inc. and the Ho-Chunk Way project for helping create a brighter future for Winnebago’s seniors.
