WCHS Nurse Honored with Prestigious Caring Kind Award

Winnebago, NE – Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) is proud to announce that Amanda Walton, BSN, RN, a registered nurse in the Primary Care Clinic, has been named a recipient of the 2025 Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) Caring Kind Award — one of the state’s highest honors for health care professionals who exemplify outstanding service, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
Amanda has served at WCHS for five years, where she has become known not only for her clinical excellence but also for her deep compassion and ability to connect with patients on a personal level. Whether she’s caring for a longtime patient or mentoring a new nurse, Amanda approaches each interaction with empathy, professionalism, and a calming presence that uplifts everyone around her.
Sara McIntosh, Nurse Practitioner and Chief Nursing Officer at WCHS, who nominated Amanda for the award, shared:

For 46 years, the Nebraska Hospital Association has recognized exceptional health care employees with the Caring Kind Award, honoring those who demonstrate extraordinary dedication, service, and compassion in their work. Each member hospital or health system in Nebraska is invited to nominate one employee annually. Since its inception, nearly 3,000 individuals have received this prestigious recognition.
