Participating Smiles Earn Pizza From WCHS
April 29, 2026
Winnebago, NE – The excitement was contagious yesterday, on April 28th, as local K-8 students enjoyed a pizza parties earned from achieving 95% participation in Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System's Dental Sealant field trip. These celebrations were an incentive offered to students and parents who prioritized their dental health by completing the paperwork and participating in this year’s Sealant Clinic field trip.
Every year, WCHS’s Dental Clinic collaborates with our local schools, Winnebago Public School and St. Augustine’s to plan a Sealant Clinic field trip. After completing the appropriate paperwork, students on this field trip transported to the WCHS during the school day to receive comprehensive dental screenings. Regular dental sealant is a key component of preventive oral health.
WCHS Dentist, Erin Rolf, explains “We work with local schools to ensure that our communities children receive this routine fluoride treatment. Regular sealants are how we reduce cavities by helping strengthen and support tooth enamel.”
Since we know that sealant is critical to dental health over a lifetime and that Pizza and ice cream can be powerful motivators for kids. With the help and support of our local teachers to facilitate paperwork and coordinate the transportation, WCHS offered each class ice cream of 70% participation and a pizza party with ice cream of 90% compliance paperwork and participation in the Sealant Clinic field trips.
“This is what it’s all about,” said Dr. Rex Monif, Chief of Dental at WCHS. “Delivering well-deserved celebratory pizza and ice cream and seeing those protected smiles—is how we create the habits that sustain good oral health for the next generation.”
This long-standing program plays a key role in ensuring that Winnebago community children have consistent preventive dental care throughout each school year.
