Winnebago Health Foundation Hosts Homecoming PowWow Experience

Winnebago, NE - The Winnebago Health Foundation (WHF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit of the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS), recently welcomed guests for a special experience celebrating the 160th Winnebago Homecoming PowWow.

The event began Saturday morning at the WCHS Main Campus with a blessing from John Blackhawk, followed by an overview of WCHS from CEO, David Edwards, and a presentation about the Winnebago Health Foundation from WHF Board Member, Danelle Smith. Guests also enjoyed a tour of the facility before gathering for a traditional lunch and a presentation on Winnebago tribal culture and PowWow traditions from Sarah Snake.

Following the morning activities, guests traveled together to the Veterans Grounds to experience the afternoon Grand Entry from reserved seating near the Grand Entry Ramp.

“We were honored to share this experience with our guests and give them an opportunity to learn more about WCHS while experiencing an important Winnebago tradition,” said Linda Santi, WHF Planning and Development Manager. “It was a wonderful day of education and celebration, and we were so pleased to hear how much our guests enjoyed the experience.”

The event provided guests and their families with an opportunity to learn more about WCHS, the Winnebago Health Foundation, and the rich traditions of the Winnebago community while experiencing the energy and spirit of the Homecoming PowWow.
