Notice of Change in Transportation Assistance Offering | Purchased Referred Care (PRC)
What IS changing…
The temporary Transportation Assistance program offered through the Purchase Referred Care (PRC) will no longer be available. This program provided gas vouchers to community members to assist them in utilizing their personal vehicles to transport themselves, family members, or a friend to upcoming medical appointments. The funding for this temporary program, created to help reduce the potential exposure during the COVID-19 pandemic, will soon be depleted, and WCHS’s PRC will no longer be providing gas vouchers. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, we are providing advanced notice allowing ample time to plan for future transportation needs for your medical appointment.
What is NOT changing…
WCHS will continue to offer transportation services. These are available by appointment and consist of:
- Personal Rides: Transportation for Winnebago residents with medical appointments at WCHS (WPHD or TCUH) and/or appointments outside Winnebago. To utilize these transportation services, we require a 48-hour notice to add you to the transportation list. If we are notified of a transportation need under the 48-hour timeframe, we can check and will try our best to accommodate a ride, but it is dependent on previously scheduled rides and staff availability.
- Shuttle Service: Transporting from Sioux City to Winnebago twice a day to provide WCHS patients who booked a reservation 24 hours in advance.
