Patient Family Advisory Council

The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) brings together a diverse group of individuals united by a shared goal: patient and family centered care. Being a part of PFAC allows WCHS to engage in crucial discussions and witness impactful changes taking place as a result of our suggestions.

At WCHS, our mission is create and sustain a healthy community and provide exceptional experiences for our patients and their families. As authorities in patient and family experiences, we recognize the invaluable input of patients and their families in enhancing care services. Through our patient and family-centered approach, we ensure that their voices are central to our decision-making. The changes we have implemented are aimed at making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

The Role of Patient & Family Advisors

As an advisor, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the healthcare experience at WCHS by sharing your personal healthcare experiences, participating in committee discussions and decision-making, and offering your perspective on ways we can improve. Advisors may also help review or create patient education and informational materials, such as website content, forms, health information handouts, and discharge instructions, to ensure they are clear, useful, and easy for patients and families to understand. Most importantly, advisors bring a genuine interest in creating meaningful, positive improvements that help WCHS provide the best possible experience for every patient and their family.

Qualifications 

You don’t need any special qualifications to become an advisor. What matters most is your experience as a patient or family member and your willingness to share your story, ideas, and feedback in a constructive way. All applications will be reviewed by the WCHS Board of Directors, and any additional training you may need will be provided. Advisors are asked to make a minimum two-year commitment, with committee meetings held eight times throughout the year. The PFAC application process will reopen every two years, providing an opportunity for new advisors to join the committee and bring fresh perspectives and ideas.
