Winnebago Health Foundation Visitors Experience the 159th Winnebago Homecoming Celebration

Winnebago, NE – The Winnebago Health Foundation (WHF) was delighted to host a memorable day for visitors during the Winnebago Tribe's 159th Annual Homecoming Celebration, which took place from July 24th to 27th, 2025. Approximately forty guests were welcomed to the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System’s (WCHS) Main Campus on Saturday, where they were immersed in the rich history and culture of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and learned about the vital work being done by WCHS and WHF.

The day began with an introduction to WCHS and WHF including an overview of their missions and initiatives.  Visitors then enjoyed an exclusive tour of the WCHS facility by WCHS CEO David Edwards, who highlighted the state-of-the-art healthcare services available to the Winnebago community and beyond.

Sarah Snake, Senior Community Liaison at Ho-Chunk, Inc., provided an in-depth overview of the Winnebago Homecoming Pow Wow, sharing the significance of this annual celebration in honoring the Winnebago Tribe’s heritage and traditions.

Guests enjoyed a traditional lunch featuring corn soup, fry bread, fresh fruits, and vegetables, allowing them to experience the culinary heritage of the Winnebago people. Following the meal, the group caravanned to the Veterans Memorial Park Pow Wow Grounds, where they were able to sit together in a reserved area for the afternoon Grand Entry and learn more about what they were experiencing —a highlight of the Pow Wow.

The event offered a unique opportunity for regional leaders and thought leaders to connect with the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and learn about the impactful work of WCHS and WHF. The Foundation remains committed to fostering partnerships that will continue to uplift the health and well-being of the Winnebago community.

“We have a great story to tell, and we were delighted we were able to share it with those who took the time to visit,” said David Edwards. “Pinagigi (Thank You!) to all who attended and made this day unforgettable.”
