WCHS Hosts Teen Health Fair
August 29, 2025
Winnebago, NE – On Monday, August 25, the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System’s Public Health Nursing team hosted its annual Teen Health Fair in the Winnebago Public School gym, this event welcomed 7th–12th grade students, preteens, and teacher for a day of learning, connection, and fun.
The event featured interactive booths, educational resources, and health screenings designed to empower teens with knowledge and tools to make healthy choices. Many teens are not aware of the various health issues that can affect them. A health fair provides a fun and accessible platform to educate them on a wide range of topics, including nutrition, mental health, physical fitness, substance abuse prevention, CPR, healthy relationships, and more!
Local healthcare professionals, community organizations, and school staff collaborated to provide hands-on activities and answer questions in an approachable, teen-friendly environment. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in games, receive educational resources to support their health and well-being year-round.
“The Teen Health fair is funded by an outreach grant focused on providing culturally centered efforts to reach every age in our community! This event was centered on our middle and high schoolers, meeting these adolescents where they are. We want to provide accurate information, practical skills, and a safe space to ask important questions,” said Carla Griffin, Public Health Nursing Director. “Education is the first step to building a healthy lifestyle.”
WCHS thanks Winnebago Public School, participating organizations, and all the students and families who joined in making the day a success. By learning together, the community takes one more step toward stronger, healthier futures for Winnebago’s youth.
