Winnebago Health Foundation Announces 2025 Scholarship Winners

Winnebago, NE – The Winnebago Health Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Foundation Scholarships. This year’s winners have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, community involvement, and a strong commitment to their future careers. These scholarships are designed to support their educational journeys and empower them to make meaningful contributions to the Winnebago community.
Denise Milford is enrolled in Little Priest Tribal College pursuing a degree in Health Sciences. She has been honored as the American Indian Scholarship Fund Student of the Year 2024 and has served as the Student Senate President. Denise is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and experiences with the younger generation in Winnebago, aiming to inspire and educate future leaders.
Elias Blue is attending Western Iowa Tech Community College to pursue an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Paramedic certification. He takes great pride in serving the community of Winnebago by working at Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) as an EMT currently and plans to continue to do so after completing the WITCC program.
Austina Saunsoci plans to attend the University of Phoenix to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a current Registered Nurse at WCHS, she loves to teach patients about healthy lifestyle options to improve their overall health. Her future goals are to further her education to be able to provide even more support and care for our community while incorporating culture and traditions.
Candice McDaniel plans to attend Post University to pursue a graduate degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. She currently works as an Emergency Department Case Manager and Nurse at WCHS. Candice has become passionate about kidney health over the years and wants to do more for those suffering with kidney failure while preventing further harm. She hopes to help patients with getting transplants and dialysis if needed.
Jayme Moore is attending Nebraska Indian Community College to pursue a degree in Human Services to become an Alcohol & Drug Counselor. Jayme has served the community as a dispatcher and correctional officer for 20 years and is now a Recovery Outreach employee for WCHS. She wants to continue her work for the Recovery Program to help heal more people and support them on their sobriety journey.
Mia Regalado is studying to become a paramedic at Western Iowa Tech Community College. With a passion for community service, Mia aims to bring her expertise back to Winnebago. Her goal is to continue serving Winnebago in a broader capacity, helping shape a more resilient, healthy future for generations to come.
Jodie Moore is attending Western Governors University to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing. She has worked as a full-time nurse for 17 years and works at WCHS in Inpatient and Wound Care/Intravenous (IV) Clinic. Jodie is always eager to learn more about Winnebago’s culture from her patients and feels blessed to see her patients’ health improve. She plans to get her BSN and eventually become a Nurse Practitioner to keep the care of the community local at WCHS.
Darian Earth will attend Southeast Community College this Fall as a student athlete on the Wrestling Team. Darian is pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy and hopes to return to WCHS to offer their skills and serve the Winnebago community once licensed. They are determined to put 110% of their effort into doing good for the community and giving back.
