Foundation Board of directors

The Winnebago Health Foundation's Board of Directors is a governing body that oversees the operations and strategic direction of our charitable Foundation. Our membership is composed of individuals who are dedicated to the Foundation's mission and have the expertise and experience to guide our activities.

As directed in the Foundation By-laws, the board of directors shall consist of no less than nine (9) and no more than eleven (11) members, selected by the WCHS Board of Directors, as follows:

One (1) member shall be a current member of the Winnebago Tribal Council;
One (1) member shall be the current WCHS Chief Executive Officer;
One (1) member shall be a current member of the WCHS Board of Directors;
One (1) member shall be a representative of another tribal or community organization;
Two (2) members shall be members of the tribe with experience in health care, business, or related field, not a member of the Winnebago Tribal Council; and
The remaining members shall be persons with extensive professional experience and/or higher education in health care, business, or related field and may, but need not be, members of the tribe.

Seeking Additional Board Members

The Winnebago Health Foundation is seeking interested and qualified board members to support the work of the foundation and provide leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the foundation’s executive director, the board establishes the policy framework and priorities for foundation programmatic investment. There is no compensation for serving on the Foundation Board of Directors in order to minimize costs and maximize funds available for charitable purposes. Appropriate involvement of the board is both critical and expected. Board member duties include:

Keeping the mission and establishing new goals for the foundation;

Maintaining an organizational structure of the foundation;

Approving and updating policies and procedures governing the foundation;

Ensuring the establishment of a system of financial management and accountability for the foundation;

Engaging in fundraising efforts, with an emphasis on private philanthropy, to fund the ongoing initiatives of the foundation;

Developing and implementing community engagement strategies to fulfill the educational and health goals of the foundation;

Identifying and engaging in networking and partnership opportunities in support of the foundation’s mission to include expanding opportunities and develop training and scholarship programs for those in the community entering or in the health field; and

Performing such other functions as necessary to ensure compliance with the law and other applicable requirements for operation of a foundation.
